Silent Films at The Strand: “Safety Last!” (1923)
From the venue:
You are cordially invited to the screening of Harold Lloyd’s 1923 Comedic Masterpiece, Safety Last!, on Sunday afternoon February 11, beginning at 2:30 p.m. with a theatre organ pops preshow by Atlanta Fox Theatre organist Ken Double. The film tells the story of Harold climbing a 12-story office building in 1923 downtown Los Angeles as a publicity stunt for a department store. Harold deals with all kinds of obstacles in his climb including bird attacks, gun shots, ropes not attached to anything, attacking dogs, and unattached ladders! All being performed without any modern special effects and Harold in extreme danger!
There is nothing like attending a silent digitally restored film in a 1935 art deco theatre with live theatre organ accompaniment with an audience and you on the edge of your seats!!
