CRITIC’S PICK: Kate Bollinger, The EARL —It’s tough to peg this Southern born, LA based singer/songwriter. Her delicate, almost whimsically girlish voice sounds like young Marianne Faithful (before she found drugs) singing 60s influenced psychedelic indie pop. Imagine Donovan’s “Wear Your Love Like Heaven”-era warbled by a young Nico and you’re close. She has just released her debut, wittily and appropriately titled Songs from a Thousand Frames of Mind, but the buzz is already on. It’s a promising start to what might be a substantial career, so catch her in a small venue while you can. — Hal Horowitz
