Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes

The Atlanta Fine Art Print Fair, scheduled for August 10-11, 2024, will showcase the work of several prominent contemporary artists, including Steve Prince, Traci Mims, and Jamaal Barber. While the event coincides with James Baldwin’s centennial year, it primarily serves as a platform for these artists to present their latest creations and demonstrate their unique artistic processes.

Steve Prince, a renowned printmaker, will unveil a new 24” x 36” print inspired by James Baldwin. Visitors will have the opportunity to witness Prince’s printmaking process firsthand through a hands-on workshop demonstration, from conception to printing an edition. Prince will also lead a talk exploring the role of artists as emotional and spiritual historians, drawing inspiration from Baldwin’s ideas.

Traci Mims, an Atlanta-based artist originally from St. Petersburg, Florida, will be another featured artist at the fair. Mims is known for her diverse artistic practice, which includes printmaking, painting, drawing, quilting, and sculpture. Her work often addresses themes of Black identity, culture, and social justice. Mims’ recent accolades include the McClain Award for Relief Printmaking at the Atlanta Print Biennial 2023 and an Artist Fellowship Inc. Grant in 2023. Traci Mims will also be revealing her own print of James Baldwin During the fair!

Jamaal Barber, is also slated to present new works at the fair, ranging from his own interpretation of james baldwin to a freestanding metal sculpture referencing printmaking and multiplicity. As a printmaker and visual artist, Barber’s participation adds to the diverse range of artistic styles and perspectives represented at the event.

The Atlanta Fine Art Print Fair will provide these artists with a platform to showcase their latest creations, demonstrate their techniques, and engage with audiences.
