Atlanta Symphony Orchestra: Haydn & Mendelssohn
From the venue:
The incredible Atlanta Symphony Orchestra takes you on a sonic sojourn, starting in London with the grandeur and rustic verve of Haydn’s Symphony No. 104 (“London”). Then ASO Principal Oboe Elizabeth Tiscione displays her sublime artistry in Françaix’s picturesque oboe concerto L’Horloge de Flore (“The Flower Clock”), evoking brightly-hued flowers that bloom according to the time of day. Mendelssohn’s zesty Symphony No. 4 (“Italian”) closes the program, inspired by the young composer’s grand tour of Europe, where he saw sun-drenched hills and feasted al fresco in the Italian countryside. Earl Lee conducts.
