CRITIC’S PICK: A Christmas Story at Theatrical Outfit - That cunning rascal Ralphie Parker returns in Philip Grecian’s stage adaptation of the popular hit movie. The 1983 film was written by director Bob Clark, writer Leigh Brown and her husband Jean Shepherd, based on the latter’s book ‘In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash.’ Grecian is known as a writer and director for film, video and audio production, and his televised live radio adaptation of ‘Dracula’ earned him an Emmy award in 2010. At Theatrical Outfit, Ralphie is played by Max Walls; Robin Bloodworth is The Old Man and Santa; Tom Key plays Ralph; Brittani Minniweather is Miss Shields; and Maria Rodriguez-Sager appears as Mother. “For so many, watching the movie surrounded by friends and family is a holiday tradition - one that can even be looped for 24 straight hours,” says Artistic Director Matt Torney. “Jean Shepherd - humorist of the original novel that started the phenomenon - tapped into our core memories of what it was like to be a child at Christmas time... the longing for a specific gift, the navigating of last-minute school assignments, the pain of wearing thirteen layers to go out in the snow.” - Kevin C. Madigan
