City of Kings: Film Screening and Panel Discussion

While Atlanta has in recent years been recognized as a hub for public art, the rich history of the city’s graffiti culture has remained largely unknown to the broader public. The new short documentary “City Of Kings Atlanta: A Public Art Origin Story” by filmmaker William Feagins, Jr. and graffiti historian Antar K. Fierce, sets out to shed light on the origins, unique style, and enduring impact of Atlanta graffiti over the last four decades. Their work not only offers new insights into the politics of space and urban change in Atlanta, but also raises questions about the cultural, historical, and archival significance of graffiti writ large.

Please join us on Wednesday September 25, 5pm at the Woodruff Library Jones Room for a screening and discussion of the film with Antar K. Fierce (City of Kings Co-Producer and Graffiti Historian, Archivist, Educator), Miranda Kyle (Curator of Indigenous Arts at the Carlos Museum and former Curator of Public Art at the Atlanta BeltLine), and Randy Gue (Curator of Political, Cultural, & Social Movements at the Rose Library), moderated by Julia Tulke (Assistant Teaching Professor at the ILA).
