Join authors Ed Burns and Emily Giffin at SCADshow for a discussion of Burns’ debut novel A Kid from Marlboro Road. Known for his acting and directing credits, which include Saving Private Ryan, The Brothers McMullen, and Bridge and Tunnel, Burns’ buoyant first novel is a bildungsroman inspired by his own 1970s Long Island upbringing.

Told through the eyes of a 12-year-old boy, A Kid from Marlboro Road brings the Irish American family at its center to life, intermingling past and present as the narrative careens between the Bronx, Hell’s Kitchen, Gibson, and parts beyond. Burns will be joined in conversation by bestselling author Emily Giffin (Something Borrowed, Meant to Be, Where We Belong). Her most recent novel, The Summer Pact, debuted on The New York Times bestseller list upon its July 2024 release.

Tickets include a pre-signed book and are $30 for the general public. Books will be distributed the night of the event; bring your order number or barcode to the event check-in to receive your copy.

A select number of complimentary tickets are also available for SCAD Card holders, who should email scadshow at scad.edu to reserve their ticket. Complimentary tickets do not include a copy of the book.
