CRITIC’S PICK: Hail friends of weirdo improvisational and electronic ambient music, do not freakin’ miss the Inaugural Convention of the Freak Flag Freedom Party for Exploratory Creativity & Freedom of One’s Mind, which transpires at Railroad Earth in Emory Village.
The center of attention at the event is the release of a new album by Iriamu. Self-described as “the multi-disciplined art project of Pfrogdog, Lean, and Noise for My Muse bassist William Hamilton,” Iriamu recently transported a crowd of fellow flag flyers into a state of ethereal bliss during the No Words ATL 3.0 festival. Come get some.
Also on the bill are The Harmonic Continuum, Doctor Calico and Kenito Murray, each of whom will play solo sets. Majid Araim will perform pieces excerpted from his opera “Otherwhere.” Neil Fried will screen his film “Convention 88: Outside the Omni.”
But, wait, there’s more! Bryan from @Stukenborg Press will be on the premises showcasing Iriamu’s artful album packaging, demonstrating how letterpress printing works and creating original pieces available for consumption. – Doug DeLoach
