Begin the night on a journey with Slovakian travelers during Kodály’s Dances of Galánta before relaxing to Laura Usiskin’s performance of Haydn’s Cello Concerto No. 1, a piece originally written for the principal cellist of a Hungarian prince’s orchestra! These works build up to an exciting performance of Dvořák’s eighth symphony, a piece filled with the sounds of the Bohemian countryside and traditional folk dances. Finally, celebrate the music of Queen with an orchestral performance of Bohemian Rhapsody.
