Fri., May 9 - Sun., Jun. 15CRITIC’S PICK: Millions, Alliance Theatre — A nine-year-old boy finds a bag stuffed with cash beside a railroad track and shows it to his brother. Chaos ensues. A British film directed by Danny Boyle in 2004, ‘Millions’ was written by Frank Cottrell-Boyce and at first was meant to be a musical, with acerbic Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher tapped to compose songs for the project. The plan fell apart. Lo and behold, it’s a musical now — albeit sans Gallagher, and perhaps the better for it. The world premiere at the Alliance features an original score by Adam Guettel, a book by Bob Martin, and direction by Bartlett Sher. Artistic Director Tinashe Kajese-Bolden says the show “is about possibility — what we do with the unexpected, how we can choose generosity over greed, and how love finds us when we least expect it.” — Kevin C.
