“MACBETH” presented by The Atlanta Opera

Based on one of Shakespeare’s greatest works, Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Macbeth is an intense psychological drama of a riveting scramble to grab power at any price. Dominating the drama, Michael Mayes as Macbeth, Sarah Gartland as Lady Macbeth, and Morris Robinson as Banquo bring their talents to this tightly paced work of magnificent music. Set in the mid-19th century, Macbeth features the famous sleepwalking aria “Una macchia e qui tuttora” (“Out, damned spot”) and “Mi si affaccia u pugnal” (“Is this a dagger I see before me”). A new production by The Atlanta Opera, Macbeth will be sung in Italian with English supertitles. 

This is grand opera at its most amazing as Verdi, like Shakespeare, thrills audiences with glorious music wrapped around the lure of ambition, temptation, and tyranny.

The production includes graphic violence and supernatural elements.
