'Campbell Addy: The Stillness of Elegance'

Exhibitions Campbell Addy Scad Fash 2

Campbell Addy is a British Ghanaian artist whose striking photographs have garnered acclaim for their reconsiderations of beauty ideals. The artist creates conceptual images that offer expansive aesthetic possibilities for engaging with Blackness, identity, and representation. Emphasizing a narrative sensibility, Addy’s works have been published in British Vogue, i-D, and Dazed, among others, and have featured luminaries such as Tyler, The Creator, FKA twigs, Beyoncé, and Naomi Campbell. The Stillness of Elegance marks the artist’s first institutional solo exhibition in the U.S. and includes works that exemplify his dynamic exploration of personal intimacy, creative connection, and world-building across his catalog. Underscoring visibility for underrepresented communities, Addy heightens visual storytelling in captivating images that broaden the lexicon of fashion photography beyond the celebrity that audiences may typically associate with the industry.

The Stillness of Elegance is organized for SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film by SCAD Museum of Art curator Ben Tollefson.

'Jeanne Lanvin: Haute Couture Heritage'

SCAD FASH Exhibition Jeanne Lanvin 2
Photo by Julien Vidal, Courtest SCAD

The first exhibition in the U.S. dedicated to Jeanne Lanvin (b. 1867, Paris; d. 1946, Le Vésinet, France), Haute Couture Heritage showcases more than 60 garments, illustrations, and photographs spanning the height of her practice. Drawing from the collections of Fondation Azzedine Alaïa and Lanvin Heritage, the exhibition thoughtfully reflects on the couturier’s vast knowledge of silhouettes, fabric variations, and cutting techniques to highlight rich nuances in color, texture, transparency, and embellishment.

The virtuosity of Lanvin’s craftsmanship lies in her eye for details and expertise in appliqué work, inlays, topstitching, and embroidery. The pure, refined shapes of her signature robes de style, as well as the evocative graphic patterns of her evening coats and capes, harmonize with the delicacy and subtleties of the Art Deco movement. Lanvin’s distinctive ability to craft elegance with simplicity remains the hallmark of her house and enduring legacy.

Jeanne Lanvin: Haute Couture Heritage is curated by Gaël Mamine of Fondation Azzedine Alaïa in collaboration with Lanvin Archives, Parodi Costume Collection, and SCAD FASH creative director Rafael Gomes.
