Through Sun., May 4CRITIC’S PICK: The Reservoir, Alliance Theatre - “I set out to write a drama about dementia science and ended up with a semi-autobiographical comedy about recovery, family, memory, and Jazzercise,” says playwright Jake Brasch, adding that the piece “functions like a dance piece, mirroring the protagonist’s strange train of thought.” The central character is sad-sack Josh, played by Philip Schneider. Returning to Denver from NYU, Josh tries to get his act together and sober up with the precarious assistance of various relatives. The play’s world-premiere on the Hertz Stage is a co-production between the Alliance, the Denver Center Theatre Company and the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles. The Denver Post called it “a remarkably layered and intricate work from a young playwright who is already being recognized for his gifts of timing, wit, and emotional frankness.” - Kevin C. Madigan
