Sat., Mar. 15 - Sun., Mar. 30CRITIC’S PICK: Gyun Hur: Our Mothers, Our Water, Our Peace, The Goat Farm - Born in South Korea, Gyun Hur is an interdisciplinary artist and educator who moved to Atlanta aged 13 and studied painting and sculpture at the University of Georgia and Savannah College of Art and Design. This immersive installation of 125 handblown, tear-shaped glass vessels marks the fourth anniversary of the Atlanta Spa Shootings and took the artist two years to complete. “I have been moved by the Atlanta Asian communities’ openness to share their stories of resilience and love through this project,” Hur says. The exhibition will remain on view for two weeks and offer performances, workshops, and artist talks, all at no cost to the public. - Kevin C. Madigan

From the venue:

Our mothers, our waters, our peace by Korean American artist Gyun Hur reflects upon the Atlanta Asian community’s resilience and love. Created in response to the escalation of Asian hate crimes during the pandemic, followed by the 2021 Atlanta spa shootings, Hur’s project explores grief by inviting communities to reflect on their immigrant experience and offering a way for them to heal.

A music score by Hahn Rowe accompanies the installation.
