Eric Gales, City Winery—It’s always inspirational when a once great guitarist who fell on hard times makes a successful comeback. That’s the case with blues/funk/rock star Gales who, with the help of Joe Bonamassa, rebounded from decades of drug and alcohol abuse to release 2022s Crown, a Top 10 Blues charting disc that cemented his return to the big leagues. He has since guested on others albums and was even a featured performer for Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival show a few years back. Gales also boasts a smooth, soulful voice, which balances the guitar pyrotechnics nicely. It’s a great show. — Hal Horowitz
