Sounding Spirit Singing School - Sat. session
From the venue:
Join us at the Sounding Spirit Singing School on April 4 and 5, where you’ll learn about Southern sacred music from 1850-1925, which has influenced everything from gospel to blues and pop. The events also celebrate ECDS’s Sounding Spirit Digital Library. Three events on the Emory campus are free and open to the public.
Saturday, Apr. 5, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Choral Singing School, Cannon Chapel. Choral arrangements of 19th- and 20th-century Southern sacred vernacular music have long exposed enthusiastic audiences to materials largely exclusive to worship settings. In this singing school, we'll sample from “ethical arrangements” of music included in the Sounding Spirit Digital Library, led by Derrick Fox (Michigan State University).
