Navigating a Career in Screenwriting

Moderator:

MFA Screenwriting student Win Marks

Win Marks is a filmmaker based in Atlanta, whose first feature film premiered at the 2024 Atlanta Film Festival. He will complete his master’s degree in screenwriting this year from the University of Georgia.

Panelists:

Director of Screenwriting at UGA Nate Kohn

Dr. Nate Kohn is an educator, feature film producer and festival director. At the University of Georgia he directs the low residency MFA in Screenwriting Program, directs the Cannes Film Festival Study Abroad Program, and teaches Producing for the Screen. His producing credits include Zulu Dawn, Somebodies, Bayou Maharajah and Nobody Wants To Be Here, Nobody Wants to Leave. And he is festival director for Roger Ebert's Film Festival.

UGA Screenplay Mentor Tamlin Hall

Tamlin Hall is the writer/director of two feature films; his latest project RED CAMELLIA is currently in post production. His first feature HOLDEN ON won top prizes at Dances With Films, Atlanta Film Festival, and the Breck Film Festival. His current PBS series HOPE GIVERS has won two southeast Emmy awards.

UGA Screenplay Mentor Ann Marie Allison

Ann Marie Allison is a filmmaker who loves telling stories about love - and the ridiculous ways we chase, keep, or sabotage it. Her writing, called “gender-bending” and “anarchic, subtly hilarious” by The Wall Street Journal, has fueled comedies for Sony, Amazon, Netflix, and MGM. She co-wrote and executive produced Golden Arm (a 100% Certified Fresh favorite) and The Fabulous Four (starring Susan Sarandon, Bette Midler, and Megan Mullally), and just made her feature directorial debut with You’re Dating a Narcissist! -- a romcom inspired by real-life dating disasters.

MFA Screenwriting student Hadjii Hand

Hadjii Hand is an award-winning writer, producer, and filmmaker whose work has been featured at Sundance, AFI Fest, and Roger Ebert’s Overlooked Film Festival. He has also created content for Adult Swim, Black Entertainment Television, TBS, Starz Network, and more. In addition to his work in television and film, Hadjii penned the comedy book, “Don't Let My Mama Read This: A Southern-Fried Memoir,” and has worked as a mentor in the University of Georgia’s Screenwriting Low Residency MFA program.
