From the venue:

Join the West Atlanta Watershed Alliance as we highlight the neighborhood greenspace, Cascade Springs Nature Preserve, while also hiking with Dr. Denzell Cross in the environmental field.

Dr. Denzell Cross is a freshwater ecologist who recently obtained his doctorate in ecology and integrative conservation from the University of Georgia. His dissertation research investigated the impacts of urbanization on aquatic insects in urban streams throughout the Atlanta metropolitan region. He currently serves as a postdoctoral fellow in the Community-Soil-Air-Water Learning Ecosystem in the Geosciences Department at Georgia State University, a research team dedicated to developing community-driven solutions to issues of climate, social, and environmental justice across the city of Atlanta.

Dr. Cross is passionate in exploring the interconnectedness of ecosystems, including the interplay between terrestrial environments, such as forests, and aquatic habitats like streams and rivers.

His interests also include understanding how humans in the built environment, like cities, not only modify our surrounding natural environments, but the ways we can come together to help conserve these important spaces.

Please note there are no facilities/bathrooms onsite!
