Gin Blossoms, 99X Free Day Out/Woodstock Summer Concert Series: The Arizona-based pop strummers rode the crossover wave with MTV on a few songs like “Hey Jealousy” and “Found Out About You,” that of course are still played. But they’ve had a batch of similar sounding albums since, that refine and even enhance the sing-along choruses which define their sound. The jangly approach was a refreshing change of pace from the darker, edgy new wave/punk popular in the early 90s, and that fresh, melodic style hasn’t aged. They should sound especially vibrant outside on a mellow, early summer’s day. — Hal Horowitz
