Known for his Emmy Award-winning writing for “The Simpsons," “Portlandia," and “Futurama," Bill Oakley is coming to Southern Belle in Atlanta next Tuesday, July 22 to share amusing anecdotes and culinary commentary about the world of unusual American foods. This exclusive event offers the rare opportunity to explore regional American dishes - delicacies that are hard to find outside their hometowns and are rarely, if ever, served in Atlanta. Featuring expertly crafted dishes from Chef Joey Ward (Southern Belle) and inspired by Bill’s travels, this dinner promises to delight the palate with bold, quirky, and iconic tastes of American cuisine. The meal consists of 7 surprise courses, large and small, including dessert. During the dinner, Oakley offers colorful commentary on the origin, cultural relevance, and weird charm of each item on the menu – along with behind-the-scenes stories from his years on “The Simpsons."
Bill Oakley is a nationally recognized food personality, content creator, and culinary curator known for celebrating the best, weirdest, and most uniquely American food traditions. He appears regularly as a commentator on The Food That Built America (History Channel), offering insight into the history and cultural impact of iconic American brands and regional dishes. Before launching his culinary ventures, Oakley was best known as the Emmy-winning former showrunner and head writer of The Simpsons, where he co-wrote the beloved “Steamed Hams” segment.
