Thee Sinseers, The Altons, The Loft—This logical and exciting double bill features bands whose music harkens back to the more innocent 60s days of pop/soul. Thee Sinseers are promoting their Sinseerly Yours collection, a batch of generally ballad-oriented R&B reminiscent of great doo-wop-influenced vocal artists like The Impressions, Sam Cooke and Smokey Robinson and the Miracles. The Altons record for the storied Daptone label which tells you most of what you need to know about their retro style. It’s an evening of sweet, heartfelt and sparkling soul played by real instruments and singers that probably don’t even know what auto-tune is.— Hal Horowitz
