Praised for his “technically flawless” playing (Ear Relevant, Atlanta), “impeccable interpretation,” and “highly refined technique, imagination, and musical taste” (Jornal da Cidade, Bauru, Brazil), pianist Vicente Della Tonia has performed in concert halls across Asia, Europe, and North and South America.
Early in his career, he received top prizes in numerous piano competitions, and more recently, he has been featured as a guest artist on public radio stations WFMT, WXVS, and WABE, as well as at the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series (Chicago, IL), Universidade Estadual de São Paulo, Faculdade e Conservatório Souza Lima, Conservatório Baurense (Brazil), the VII Coloquio do Seminario Permanente de Historia y Música (Mexico City), and as a soloist with the DeKalb Symphony Orchestra and the Perimeter Wind Ensemble (Atlanta, GA).
He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of South Carolina, where he studied under Marina Lomazov (piano) and Scott Price (piano pedagogy). He previously studied with Judit Gabòs, Sergio Gallo, and Rosa Maria Tolon Marin, earning a Master of Music from Georgia State University, a Bachelor of Music from Universidade do Sagrado Coração (Brazil), and an Artist Diploma from Conservatório Musical de Lençóis Paulista (Brazil).
A recipient of the 2024 Teacher of the Year award from the Georgia Music Teachers Association and a two-time Steinway & Sons Top Teacher Award honoree (2017 and 2020), Dr. Della Tonia currently serves as Coordinator of Keyboard Studies and Associate Professor of Piano at Georgia State University’s Perimeter College at Clarkston. He is also the founder and director of PianoFest. Prior to his tenure at Georgia State, he taught at Allen University, the University of South Carolina’s Community Music School (Columbia, SC), Claflin University (Orangeburg, SC), and at Seminário Santo Antônio and Conservatório Musical de Lençóis Paulista in Brazil.
In addition to his teaching and performing career, Vicente serves as Immediate Past President of the Atlanta Music Teachers Association, Vice President of Auditions for the Georgia Music Teachers Association, and juror for the Osaka International Piano Competition. An active member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), he has also presented lectures and recitals at national and state conferences in Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota, Nevada, South Carolina, Texas, and Washington.
Vicente Della Tonia is a recording artist with ACA Digital Recording, and his debut album—featuring works by Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos—is available on all major streaming platforms.

Program description:
This program invites the audience on a journey through time, traversing diverse cultures and soundscapes. Haydn’s Variations in F Minor reveal the classical elegance and refined expression of the Viennese style. Next, Chopin’s Ballade No. 4 reaches the pinnacle of Romantic poetry and emotional intensity. With vibrant rhythms and colors, Lecuona’s Suite Andalucía evokes both Spanish and Afro-Cuban influences. The program concludes with Liszt—moving from the contemplative serenity of Au lac de Wallenstadt to the electrifying virtuosity of the Spanish Rhapsody.
