CRITIC’S PICK:
Mon., Sep. 29
Lil Wayne, State Farm Arena — Forget whatever nonsense you have heard about Lil Wayne’s inability to give a proper performance — don’t let a social media hate train stop you from seeing one of the greatest rappers of all time live. The New Orleans legend is currently touring in support of his latest LP, “Tha Carter VI,” and one of the final three stops of the tour belongs to Atlanta. In addition to performing the standout cuts from his new album, Weezy will also be dishing out hits from his decade-spanning catalogue as he celebrates the 22-year anniversary of his beloved “Tha Carter” album series. Young Money Entertainment alum Tyga and rising Alabama rapper NoCap will round out the set list, making for an exciting night out at State Farm Arena. — joshua robinson
From the venue:
Lil Wayne is one of the most recognizable figures in rap. After becoming the youngest member on Cash Money Records’ roster when he joined the imprint at age 11, Wayne rose to fame with his group Hot Boys before achieving success as a solo artist. His breakout 2013 solo release, I Am Not a Human Being II, yielded four singles on the Billboard Hot 100, edging out Elvis Presley to position Wayne as the male artist with the most entries on the chart – a whopping 109 in total. His five Grammys and nine No. 1 albums on the Billboard Top Rap Albums chart helped immortalize his trailblazing use of Auto-Tune, which created a highly melodic hybrid of rap and R&B that has served as a benchmark for many artists following in his path. Lil Wayne has anchored a number of headlining tours throughout his career, and the rapper is poised to hit the road in 2025 to celebrate his 14th solo studio album, Tha Carter VI.Lil Wayne: Tha Carter VI Tour Celebrating 20+... | 09/29/2025 8:00 PM
