You Need a Manifesto

MODA invites Atlanta’s creative community to slow down and reflect with an evening inspired by You Need a Manifesto, a book from Stanford’s d.school that argues every designer, educator, and changemaker benefits from having a clear personal manifesto. The event introduces key ideas from author Charlotte Burgess-Auburn’s work before opening into group discussion and hands-on writing. Attendees will leave with a journal to begin sketching out their own manifesto—a guiding statement that can spark clarity, shape decisions, and keep purpose at the center of creative practice. Facilitator Kevin Day, who teaches at The Mount Vernon School’s Impact Design Lab, will lead participants through the process with a mix of reflection and practical exercises. The evening is designed for designers, students, and curious minds alike, whether or not they’ve read the book. A special discount on You Need a Manifesto will be available in MODA’s shop.
