Kimberly Akimbo, Fox Theatre — The winner of a bunch of awards, including five Tonys, ‘Kimberly Akimbo’ will be staged at the Fox for a week as part of a national tour. Based on David Lindsay-Abaire’s play, the musical concerns a teenage girl saddled with a medical condition that hastens her descent into old age. According to ‘Playbill,’ Kimberly is “forced to maneuver family secrets, borderline personalities, and possible felony charges, (but) is determined to find happiness in a world where not even time is on her side.” Lindsay-Abaire wrote the book and lyrics while Jeanine Tesori composed the music; the pair previously worked on ‘Shrek the Musical.’ The touring cast features Ann Morrison in the lead role, with direction by Jessica Stone. — Kevin C.
