Paul Mcdonald & The Mourning Doves
CRITIC'S PICK:
Thurs., Jan. 22
Paul McDonald & the Mourning Doves, Eddie's Attic - Soulful pop rocker McDonald has been around for a while, delivering sizzling performances backed by his tight, tough band. His bio describes him as being "equal parts revival and rock séance." That's a good depiction of a guy who skirts the edge of Petty-styled Americana on So Long to the Dark Side (2025) with just enough church to get audiences up and dancing, something difficult to do in this seated venue. Regardless, his songs are cool, he sings 'em with intensity and it's impossible not to be impressed by his magnetic stage presence. Once you catch McDonald in full flight, you'll want to return and bring your friends. - Hal Horowitz
From the venue:
Paul McDonald & the Mourning Doves live at Eddie's Attic!
Paul McDonald’s voice is immediately recognizable and impossible to ignore. Often compared to legends like Rod Stewart and Bob Dylan, the poetic story-driven narratives and deeply catchy hooks in his music are delivered by a raspy yet refined voice reminiscent of another era that demands to be heard right now. He pulls off the rare feat of being a poet, visual artist, songwriter, adamant performer, and a powerful vocalist. Paul’s hope is to spread peace, love, and unity through his music. His first album in more than six years, “So Long To the Dark Side,” drops on July 11, 2025, with the electric single, “Dark Side,” leading a string of releases in the build up.
