A pioneering force in the creation of timba with NG La Banda, Oviedo has become a cultural ambassador of Cuban rhythm, translating complex percussion traditions onto the modern drum set. His versatility has led him to perform with top figures in Latin jazz, salsa, and beyond, while his educational work has inspired generations of musicians eager to master the art of Afro-Cuban rhythm. Whether driving a salsa band with unstoppable groove or exploring the improvisational freedom of jazz, Oviedo’s playing embodies the heartbeat of Cuba and the innovation of a true master.
