Luke Winslow-King
CRITIC'S PICK:
Thurs., Jan. 15
Luke Winslow-King, Eddie's Attic - Well-travelled, Winslow-King used to busk the streets of New Orleans, before releasing his debut album in 2006. By the time he started recording for the respected Bloodshot label, he had perfected a combination of old timey blues, folk, and roots music. His grainy voice and sure sense of composition kept him in the public eye, until it didn't when the terrific R&B/blues influenced Flash-A-Magic (2024) hardly created a commercial, or even indie, ripple. His diverse talents deserve better and hearing the songs from that disc live will hopefully reignite interest in a lifer artist whose music is lived-in, honest and should be far more popular than it is. - Hal Horowitz
