The Last Revel

The Last Revel, The EARL - This string band trio (guitar, fiddle, banjo) displays the instrumentation of a bluegrass ensemble. But their music is more indie/folk-oriented, leaning to the darker edge of that genre in songs that explore the less glamorous aspects of life on the road. The Midwestern three-piece has been around for a decade, releasing five studio albums - which makes them veterans of sorts. Although this might seem to be a better fit for Eddie's Attic, The Last Revel's music pushes into more rock-oriented Avett Brothers territory as they tear into their unplugged instruments with furious, fleet-fingered energy. They will feature music from a terrific new album, Gone for Good. - Hal Horowitz
