ATLCMC: Reflect/Refract
CRITIC’S PICK
Sat., Nov. 8
The next concert by the Atlanta Creative Music Collective (ATLCMC), titled “Reflect/Refract, seeks to answer the question, “How can the orchestra stay ‘relevant’ in the current sociopolitical climate”? ATLCMC tackles the query with a program of new works by Ted Hearne, Kevin Kay, Peter Van Zandt Lane, Hannah Barnes, Rachael Fasano and Thomas Kotcheff.
The ATLCMC’s stated mission is to “push the boundary of sound, improvisation, relevance and theater.” Based on your narrator's recent experience — a wonderful concert celebrating Christian Wolff’s piece “For 1, 2, or 3 People,” at The Supermarket in early September — they’re doing a mighty fine job of fulfilling it. – Doug DeLoach
