Three Duos at First Existentialist Congregation
CRITIC’S PICK
Sat., July 12
A trio of duets performing Saturday at the Old Stone Church (First Existentialist Congregation) in Candler Park features some of Atlanta’s finest improvisers. Organized by reedman-composer extraordinaire (and soon-to-be ex-Georgian) Jeff Crompton, the program pairings include Crompton and Ipek Eginli (piano); Katherine Young (bassoon, electronics) and Adam Lion (vibraphone, percussion); and Alexandria Smith (trumpet, electronics) and Klimchak (percussion, sundry objects).
The music is guaranteed to be adventurous, imaginative and entertaining. In terms of breadth and depth of talent, the Atlanta improv community rivals just about any city on the planet. Don’t believe anyone else’s ears; come witness the magic conjuring for yourself. – Doug DeLoach
