Queer Figure Drawing
From the venue:
MODA hosts an evening of Queer Figure Drawing led by artist and facilitator Ashanti Hampton, inviting LGBTQIA+ folks and allies into a creative space that celebrates queer bodies and stories. The museum opens after hours for a relaxed, communal experience where attendees can wander the galleries before settling in to sketch a partially nude model in a sequence of timed poses. Expect quick one-minute warmups, gradually lengthening studies, and a final extended twenty-minute drawing that encourages deeper focus.
Hampton guides the room with care, creating an environment that feels expressive, inclusive, and grounded in community connection. After the drawing session, participants can join an optional sharing circle to discuss their work and the ideas that emerged throughout the evening. With both personal sketchbooks and communal supplies welcome, the event offers a thoughtful, art-driven space for exploring representation, embodiment, and the beauty of queer creativity.
