Wine & Design: The Hoodie in Hip Hop
From the venue:
MODA opens the new year with an immersive Wine & Design program that digs into one of Hip Hop’s most enduring symbols: the hoodie. Co-curator and cultural critic Regina N. Bradley, Ph.D., joins the museum for an evening that traces how this familiar garment grew into a marker of identity, resistance, and creative expression. Guests can expect a smooth progression through the night—starting with wine, browsing, and mingling, followed by a guided tour of The HOODIE: Identity, Power, Protest.
Dr. Bradley then leads a vibrant conversation that situates the hoodie within broader movements in Hip Hop, examining its roots in style, self-definition, and protest. The atmosphere is relaxed, but the ideas run deep, inviting visitors to consider how clothing can communicate history and power. Attendees leave with a richer understanding of the garment’s cultural weight and the stories it continues to carry.
