Ruby Velle & the Soulphonics, Smith's Olde Bar - Local soul diva Velle and her eight-piece band start a six-week Tuesday night residency at SOB's in anticipation of a long awaited release due later in 2026. To quote an earlier album title, "it's about time." Velle's previous collection appeared in 2017, with only a few singles having dropped since. This year's "Step Right Up" shows that Velle and her band remain locked into a funky R&B groove - which bodes well for the rest of the new material.
