Sugar

Sugar, The Eastern — Ex-Husker Du frontman Bob Mould’s “pop-grunge” trio had a remarkably successful run in its short but commercially significant initial incarnation; one that stretched for three albums/EPs and about as many years from 1992-’95. Mould then reverted back to performing as a solo artist, releasing about a dozen more discs through last year’s Here to Go Crazy (2025).Few expected a Sugar reunion, but Mould has never been predictable. We’ll assume he will stick to the band’s catalog and maybe toss in a Husker Du nugget, or a track from one of his many non-Sugar releases. Regardless, this is a sure sellout since the band was so popular locally (thanks, in part, to Athenian David Barbe), albeit three decades ago. — Hal Horowitz
