From the venue:

The Atlanta Freethought Society is proud to present our own resident historian, Paul Broman, who will explore the origins of modern Christian belief in hell as a place of eternal torment after death for sinners or unbelievers.

Paul will compare conflicting New Testament scriptures describing what happens to sinners in the afterlife and the differences of opinion about hell among early Christian saints, and how those alternative opinions persist to the present day.  Learn about beliefs in eternal judgement in the afterlife that existed before Christianity and how they influenced Christian ideas.  You’ll even learn how a religious pamphlet left on a train ended up shaping attitudes about hell accepted by today’s Jehovah’s Witnesses and Seventh Day Adventists, after an event called “The Great Disappointment."

Paul always brings interesting historic facts to life in an entertaining way, so it should be one hell of a fun time!
