Grayson Capps, Eddie's Attic - Alabama singer/songwriter Capps, also a member of the on-again/off-again Willie Sugarcapps band of similarly-styled Americana artists, returns to a stage he's played often. Capps' deep talk-sung vocals are authentic and instantly recognizable due to his swampy intonation. Even though his catalog is filled with impressive originals, he continues to tour behind 2024's Heartbreak, Misery and Death set of covers. When he infuses that yawning voice into classics from Randy Newman ("Guilty"), Gordon Lightfoot ("Early Morning Rain") and even Leonard Cohen's overdone "Hallelujah," it's like hearing them for the first time. This stripped-down performance of just two acoustic guitars allows every nook and crevice of his interpretations to land with emotional gravity. - Hal Horowitz

Grayson Capps ft. Corky Hughes on Guitar live at Eddie's Attic!

Heartbreak, Misery & Death is the seventh studio album from beloved Alabama troubadour Grayson Capps. For this release, Capps revisits 16 long-lost folk songs and traditionals made famous by artists like Doc Watson, Jerry Jeff Walker, Randy Newman, Gordon Lightfoot, and Leonard Cohen. Introduced to these songs by his father at a young age, they helped shape Capps’ deep love of music and the Southern Gothic sensibility that defines his songwriting today.

Dark, soulful, and deeply personal, Heartbreak, Misery & Death is both a tribute to the music that raised him and a reflection of a lifetime spent chasing songs that linger long after the last note fades.
