His upbringing in a restaurant family led him to become a leader in New York’s culinary industry as the executive chef of Le Colonial and the creative director of Eric Ripert’s three-Michelin-starred Le Bernardin. Beyond the restaurants, Hsu was featured on the Netflix cooking series The Final Table. He is involved with several nonprofits, including Raise: High Road Restaurants, an advocacy group dedicated to fair wages and racial and gender equity in the restaurant industry as well as Kulture City, which creates sensory accessibility and inclusion for those with invisible disabilities.About the BookIn his debut cookbook, Down South + East: A Chinese American Cookbook , he shares the food he cooks at home, inspired by his Chinese roots, his childhood in the American South, and his restaurant training.
