This is a group for 12-18-year-old trans*people, people questioning their own gender, and aspiring allies. We provide an adult facilitated space to discuss gender, relevant resources, and activism around social issues. Whether silently or aloud, please come ready to consider your own gender in a transient world. The group meets virtually only on the first Monday of each month and meets in-person on the 3rd Monday of each month at Charis books and More. This group is co-facilitated by:
Mr. Jesse McNulty, Sr., M.Ed., co-founder/co-facilitator of Trans and Friends, is a 25 year veteran teacher of at-opportunity youth in metro-Atlanta area; elementary, middle, and high school. He holds a Master's of Education in Special Education- Behavioral Disorders; with add-ons in Interrelated and Gifted. Known as Sir Jesse SJ among progressive communities, he is an advocate for LGBTQQIA+ and queerly situated youth. He is a co-founder of the Georgia Safe Schools Coalition, one of the Feminist Outlawz, and a U.S. Army veteran. SJ identifies as an anti-racist and an aspiring ally striving to be a part of a more beloved community in this transient world!
Dante DeStefano is one of the original co-founders of Trans & Friends. Since 2003, he has been an advocate for the queer community, especially transgender & gender-expansive youth. As a trans teenager in the early 2000’s, Dante sought to fill a niche for trans youth seeking support and community like himself at a time when there wasn’t anything else like it in the greater Atlanta area. As co-facilitator, he is thrilled that T&F has continued to provide support for young people, wherever they are navigating and exploring on their gender journey. Dante is a visual artist and horticulturist.
If you are the parent of a trans or gender non-conforming child looking for resources to support your child, please check out our parents support group, The Gender Creative Parenting Collective and if you are a trans or questioning adult looking for resources for yourself, please check out our adult group which meets right after the teen group at 8pm ET.
