About the Poets

Headshot of Elizabeth Michaud

Elizabeth Michaud is an award-winning poet and author, a mother of three adult children, and a French teacher currently living in GA. Originally from TX, Elizabeth has been writing since she was a teenager. Both her books, Five Dreams and The Bones in the Garden (and other things found there), have received numerous accolades and tell stories of love, longing, loss, black history, social justice and a myriad of things in between. Each collection of poetry is a study of storytelling using different forms of verse, from more traditional rhyming to free verse. When not working or writing, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, playing word games, and binge-watching TV shows.

Headshot of Philip Nutsugah

Philip Kofi Nutsugah is a former senior executive who returned to writing poetry after a successful business career. Turning Homeward is his debut collection. He was born and raised in Ghana, and an alumnus of the University of South Florida. Philip and his wife live in the Atlanta area with their dog, T. S. Eliot, and are proud parents of three grown children.

Headshot of Amy Pence

Amy Pence is the author of four poetry collections and two chapbooks, most recently We Travel Towards It (Serving House Books, 2025)—attentive to climate change’s losses, both collective and personal. Her first novel Yellow, a genre-bender that blends speculative fiction, fact, and physics, debuted from Red Hen Press in March 2026. In addition to poetry and short fiction, she’s published interviews and essays in a number of magazines, including The Writer’s Chronicle and Poets & Writers. Raised in New Orleans and Las Vegas, Amy taught college English, introductory poetry writing at Emory, and in other workshop settings. She makes her home in Atlanta, where she continues to write across genres.

Headshot of Stephen Wing

Stephen Wing is the author of five poetry collections, including Wild Atlanta, inspired by the city’s many protected wild greenspaces, and Washed in the Hurricane, exploring nature as wilderness, nature as human habitat, and our changing climate. A collection of political poems, Honk If You're Awake!, is coming in 2026. He serves on the boards of the Lake Claire Community Land Trust and Nuclear Watch South and writes a monthly blog called "Wingtips."

Headshot of Jahzara Zamora Woods

Jahzara Woods is a student and self-published author. They have been featured in Underground Art & Literary journal and self-published a poetry collection, "My Lamp is on The Floor." In addition, they have collaborated with Debbie Walker-Lass, featured in The Ekphrastic Review and Collaborature. Their creative work delves into themes of grief, depression, gender dysphoria, love and invites readers to feel with them. As a student, they are currently working on their Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and minor in Editing and Publishing, serve as an undergraduate research assistant, and are a past and current writer for Grey Matters Journal (a journal that connects neuroscience and society).
