Bluesberry and Beer Festival, Betty Mauldin Park/Norcross - Someone assumed that if you like blues, you might also enjoy blueberries. Not sure there is any factual documentation involved but regardless, it's a cool way to connect the succulent dark colored fruit with a full day of solid local blues acts. This year's lineup is headlined by The Mar-tans, The Cazanovas and the Mike Veal Band, all established rootsy Atlanta outfits that add an exclamation point to the blueberry drinks and other juicy fare on sale at various downtown Norcross establishments. If the weather holds up, this is a superb, and tasty, way to welcome in the summer festival season. - Hal Horowitz
From the venue:
It all started with an idea about blueberry’s. 🙂 The city wanted to have a blueberry day with all the restaurants in downtown Norcross doing blueberry dishes and drinks. Mike Holley worked at The Iron Horse Tavern in downtown Norcross and figured why not add blues music to the combination and call it Bluesberry. His friend Tixie, who worked for the city of Norcross, backed him on it. Tixie told Mike you get the bands, I’ll set up the day… so they did.
