CRITIC'S PICK:
Sat., August 29
Surrender Hill, Matilda's Music Under the Pines/Milton - Married couple Robin Dean Salmon and Afton Seekins Salmon play strummy Americana with enough of an edge to sneak their music nearer to the mainstream. Their seventh album, River of Tears, brings them closer to a rock band with country tinges, but it's the songs that connect better than before. Both have strong voices and when they harmonize, the combination is especially effective. Take it from fan and fellow Americana traveler Rodney Crowell who says, "Robin is smart, funny, poetic and in possession of a melodic wit." They will preview songs from the forthcoming Wild Country disc. - Hal Horowitz
From the venue:
"Elements of Americana, Folk, Country and Singer/Songwriter, sounding like a perfect cross between Bruce Springsteen, Rodney Crowell and Dolly Parton, both vocally and musically speaking. It all sounds very fresh and memorable, with a nice variety due to the use of both male and female lead vocals.Surrender Hill at Matildas Music | 08/29/2026 8:00 PM
