From the venue:

The 50th Atlanta Film Festival and Tara Atlanta present the city’s premiere screening for the 4K restoration of “Building Bombs,” the Oscar-nominated documentary that opened the 1989 Atlanta Film and Video Festival. Chronicling everyday life in Aiken, S.C., ground zero for America's hydrogen bomb-making facility, the film presents shocking revelations about the U.S. Dept. of Energy’s mismanagement of its Savannah River Plant. Through interviews with residents, politicians, activists and workers, the incisive film presents life in the shadow of nuclear weapon production and illegally dumped radioactive waste. Narrated by Oscar nominee Jane Alexander, this screening includes a Q&A with Oscar-nominated filmmakers Susan J. Robinson and Mark Mori, whose career of activism-related filmmaking launched following his experiences as an Atlanta union steelworker.
