Born from a musical bond forged two decades ago, Opus 23 officially came to life in 2023—but its roots stretch back to 2003, when Brent Bailey and Ron Finney first crossed paths in the vibrant DC music scene. Their connection began at Opus 88 in Northern Virginia, where Brent sat in with saxophonist Marcus Mitchell, an artist managed by Ron. Though life took them to different cities—Brent to Atlanta in 2008,
