Little Feat: The Last Farewell Tour at the Frederick Brown, Jr., Amphitheater
From the venue:
After more than five decades on the road, Little Feat has announced “The Last Farewell Tour,” beginning in April 2026. Touring has always brought the band its greatest joy—the connection with audiences night after night—but it has also meant endless miles and the physical toll that comes with life on a bus. This farewell is not a final curtain call. Instead, it marks a gradual step back from the rigors of travel, with the band continuing to perform and record as long as they are able, winding down on their own terms over the next several years.
Little Feat’s story began in 1969 when Frank Zappa encouraged Lowell George to form his own group. George teamed with keyboardist Bill Payne and drummer Richie Hayward, eventually joined by bassist Kenny Gradney, percussionist Sam Clayton, guitarist Paul Barrere, and later Fred Tackett. Over a 56-year journey, they created a catalog of enduring classics including Dixie Chicken, Willin', Oh, Atlanta, and Fat Man in the Bathtub, as well as the legendary live album Waiting for Columbus, widely regarded as one of rock’s finest concert recordings.
The road has not been without loss. The band mourned George in 1979, Hayward in 2010, and Barrere in 2019, yet the unmistakable Little Feat groove endures. Today’s lineup, featuring guitarist Scott Sharrard and drummer Tony Leone alongside its longtime members, continues to perform with renewed vitality, recently releasing the acclaimed album Strike Up the Band. Blending rock, New Orleans swamp boogie, jazz, and blues into a sound entirely their own, Little Feat remains a celebration of American music—now preparing to honor its legacy while finally giving the faithful tour bus a well-earned rest.
