The Rodney Jordan Quintet

Grammy-nominated jazz bassist Rodney Jordan and his quintet will perform selections from their chart-topping album Memphis Blue and will premiere new works written specifically for this concert celebrating their long-standing friendships in Atlanta. Memphis Blue spent 26 weeks on the JazzWeek Top 100 Chart, hovering in the top 10 for several weeks, and was one of the highest-charting independent releases.

Considered a love letter home to his native Memphis, Jordan says,“Memphis Blue is not a typical blues recording but if you listen closely, every piece has that thread running through it. There’s an optimism in the way we play that embodies the blues spirit.”

Deeply committed to  preparing students for professional careers in music, Jordan serves as Professor of Jazz Bass and the Coordinator of Jazz and Commercial Music at Florida State University.
