CRITIC’S PICK
Tues., Oct. 27
Ian Sweet, Meg Eliser, Aisle 5 — Despite the name, Ian Sweet is a band, not a person. It is however fronted by indie rock singer/songwriter Jilian Medford. She led a revolving group of members for the past decade delivering edgy, heavily layered, often reverbed guitar angst with intensity and conviction. Their latest, Shiverstruck, backs away slightly from the overdubbed guitars for a more organic, even melodic style, evident in the single “Criminal Kissing” that fans of PJ Harvey will likely appreciate. — Hal Horowitz
