Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, Buckhead Theater — As the name of Nashville brilliant guitarist Donato’s band suggests, he runs country music through an
updated Gram Parsons-inspired mix of rock, blues, bluegrass and less traditional sounds while staying true to the genre’s authenticity. There is some Grateful Dead jammy influences in there too, but his group is generally on the livelier side. You can get a taste of the experience on his new 3-½ hour live album, Ryman to Roberts, released a few months ago. Still, this group needs to be seen live to fully appreciate their talents, synergetic energy, and Donato’s speed and proficiency on guitar. Billy Strings’ fans should be on board. — Hal Horowitz
