Coca-Cola Film Series: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1920)
CRITIC’S PICK
Tue., Oct. 20 — Wed., Oct. 21
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Fox & The Ring, Fox Theatre — The 1920 silent film Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, starring John Barrymore, will be screened at the Fox on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 8 p.m., accompanied by in-house musician Ken Double on Mighty Mo, the theatre’s rousing pipe organ that made its debut there just nine years after the film’s debut. The next night, the more contemporary horror movie The Ring will be shown with the live backing of Hans Zimmer’s score by the Georgia Symphony Orchestra. Starring Naomi Watts, The Ring was a surprise hit when it came out in 2002 and helped solidify Watts’ career after her previous appearance in David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive. The Fox is presenting both of these landmark horror pictures as part of its perennial Coca-Cola Film Series. — Kevin C. Madigan
