CRITIC’S PICK, Sunday, August 30 - VinylCon!, Yaarab Shrine Center — After a successful two-day run last February, VinylCon! returns to Atlanta this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, August 29 and 30, at the Yaarab Shrine Center on Ponce De Leon. With over fifty dealers from across the country setting up, there will be a wide-array of records for sale, from punk and alternative to rock and heavy metal to jazz, R&B and hip-hop. Local dealers who set up last time say were not only surprised by the turnout, but the incredible selection afforded crate diggers by the out of town dealers. While the long-running Atlanta Record & CD Show continues to draw its loyal dealers and crowds, VinylCon! is a different beast entirely, reminiscent more of the WFMU Record Fair in New York City and the convention in Austin, Texas. Hours are Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM. Advance tickets for Saturday are just $12.75, and Sunday is $10 (fees included). Parking is available for free at the Yaarab Shrine Center parking lot. The address is 400 Ponce De Leon Avenue NE, Atlanta, 30308. — Tony Paris

From the venue:

A music collector’s daydream come to life, VinylCon! is a two-day community celebration of collecting culture and new music discovery.

We are focused on vinyl but don’t worry there will be other recorded media on offer, as well as all sorts of music memorabilia and ephemera.

To round it out we will have a full bar, exciting sponsor activations, food trucks and we’ll be bringing some vinyl-only DJ’s to provide killer tunes while you dig!
